Kierra was last seen in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois on October 2, 2018. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a city carrier assistant, but had called in sick that day. She was about three months pregnant with her first child, and her family said she was excited about the pregnancy and looking forward to the baby's birth. Kierra Michelle Coles.

Her mother reported her missing two days later, after Kierra didn't call and her phone went straight to voicemail. Her car was found outside her apartment with her purse, phone, and a packed lunch still inside.

At about 10:43 p.m. that night, surveillance video captured Kierra making two ATM withdrawals at a business in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove. These are the last known images of her. Chicago police have released footage of a person of interest who was seen parking her car near her home on October 3, and say foul play is suspected.

In August 2026, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service increased its reward for information in Kierra's case to $250,000.
