Travis was last seen at his apartment on Montana Street in Wenatchee, Washington, in the late afternoon of April 22, 2023. He is a father of one.

The morning before, at about 8:30 a.m., he walked away from his construction job near Mission Creek in Cashmere and spent the rest of that day and night in the Wenatchee Mountains. He returned to his apartment after about thirty hours, then disappeared again later that day. His family believes he may have been going through a mental health crisis, and said he usually liked to go into the mountains when he was in that state of mind.

Family and volunteers organized several searches, starting in the Castle Rock area and later between the Yaksum and Fairview canyons south of Cashmere. A large search in late October 2023, with several dozen professional and volunteer searchers, a helicopter, UTVs, and search dogs, turned up nothing. Several leads and possible sightings in the months after he went missing also failed to locate him.
