Wilda was 14 when she was last seen at home in Creole, Louisiana, on July 23, 1992. She was living with her aunt and uncle at the time. Her uncle last saw her in her bedroom that evening, and by the next morning she was gone.

At the time, Wilda had a shoulder injury and was taking painkillers for it. Her jewelry box, several pieces of jewelry, and some clothing were also found to be missing, and her case was first treated as a runaway. Her mother has never agreed that she left on her own, and her case was reclassified from runaway to endangered missing in 2005.

Her mother remembers her as a typical 14-year-old who loved makeup and going to football games. Wilda has not been heard from since that night in 1992.
