Sarah & Jacob Hoggle
Case Summary
On September 7, 2014, Sarah and Jacob were left in the care of their grandparents, Catherine's parents, in Darnestown Maryland. Catherine took Jacob, age 2, to allegedly "go pick up a pizza". She later arrived back at the home- Jacob was not with her. She told her parents he was at a sleepover.
Catherine later returned to her home in Clarksburg MD with Sarah, age 3. The next morning, their father learned when he woke up, Catherine had left with Sarah. When he asked Catherine where the children were, she informed him that they had gone to a new daycare. They drove to several daycares and the children were not located. When their father advised Catherine he was going to the police about the children being missing, Catherine asked to stop so she could get a drink. She left the restaurant through a side door. The children's father filed a police report.
Catherine was found several days later, removing missing posters. She was arrested on several charges. She was also sent for psychiatric evaluation. Ultimately, the original charges were dropped and she was charged with two counts of felony murder. Those charges were also dropped in 2022, due to Maryland Law.
The children have never been located.
