Maura Murray
Case Summary
Maura went missing on February 9, 2004 at approximately 7:30 PM, after her vehicle spun off the Route 112 in Woodsville NH, (known locally as the Weathered Barn Corner). Woodsville is a village in the Town of Haverhill NH, population approximately 4500. She is described as 5’7” and was an accomplished cross country runner.
She was a student in the Nursing Program and University of Massachusetts. She had withdrawn some funds from an ATM, and made a purchase at a local liquor store. Her reason for being in Northern NH and her destination are unknown.
Maura declined an offer of a local school bus driver to have police respond. Neighbors, however, called police and they responded to the scene. Upon arrival they found the vehicle locked and no sign of Maura. It is believed that she was gone in a very small window of time (5-7 minutes) from the time she was last sighted to when the police arrived.
Many ground searches have been conducted. The case has become well known in the are due to a special by the Oxygen channel, numerous other media outlets and various social media groups. Despite widespread attention, no one has been named a POI by the NH Cold Case unit.
Numerous individuals have been publicly accused via social media groups, however no evidence of anyone's involvement has been knowingly substantiated by Law Enforcement. Unfortunately misinformation about facts and circumstances have been circulated over and over.
The case is still under active investigation by the NH cold Case unit under the NH Attorney Generals office, and two Private investigators from PIFTM.
